Calcium Hydroxide Food Grade(Food Additive)

Calcium Hydroxide Food Grade,as Food adjunct and food additive traditionally called slaked lime, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2.

Product Description:

Calcium Hydroxide Food Grade, traditionally called slaked lime, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2. It is a colorless crystal or white powder and is obtained when calcium oxide (called lime or quicklime) is mixed, or "slaked" with water. It has many names including hydrated lime, builders lime, slack lime, cal, or pickling lime. It is of low toxicity. is used in many applications, including food preparation.

CAS No.: 1305-62-0

EINECS No.: 215-137-3

Molecular formula: Ca(OH)2

Color: White power

Food adjunct/food additive calcium hydroxide is roughly made of lime after processed and refined to remove hazard matter like metallic matter.

1. Molecular formula: Ca (OH)2

2. Molecular weight: 74.096

3. Physicochemical Property:

Soft and delicate white powder with a density of 2.24 and a stacking volume of 0.6-0.8. After 500, hydrate water will lose to become calcium oxide, which absorbs carbon dioxide in the air to form calcium carbonate that can be dissolved in acid instead of water and alcohol.

4. Calcium Hydroxide Food Grade Feature:

High activity, loose structure, great purity (able to be analytically pure), white, fine granulate with few content of foreign matter

5. Calcium Hydroxide Food Grade Usage

The produce is widely used in synthesis of medical drug, food additive, hi-tech biological material HA, VC phosphonolipide used as feed additive, food arum, calcium agent, additive for candy manufacturing industry of calcium naphthenate, calcium lactate and calcium citrate, water processing and other high-grade organic chemical industry .

1) Niche uses

Because it is produced on a large scale, is easily handled, and is cheap, myriad niche and even large scale applications have been described. A partial listing follows:

-In life support systems as a carbon dioxide scrubber, particularly in closed-circuit diving re-breathers such as the US Navy LAR V or MK-16, where the more caustic Lithium Hydroxide is deemed too risky due to inhaled dust, combat handling, or generation of caustic "slurry" in flooding events

-An ingredient in whitewash, mortar, and plaster

-In road construction, to improve the quality of excessively plastic subgrade soils.

-To fill the root canal for the first stage of endodontic therapy (it is then replaced by rubber).

-As an additive to sea water to reduce atmospheric CO2 and mitigate the greenhouse effect.

2) Food industry

-In Chinese cuisine, for making century eggs

-Used to fortify fruit drinks such as orange juice.

-A calcium supplement in mineral fortified infant formula

-An Indian digestive called "paan" where areca nuts, calcium hydroxide and a variety of seeds are wrapped in betel leaves.

-Use as alternative ingredient to baking soda (raising agent) in papadam.

3) Native American uses

4) Afghan uses

5) Ancient Celtic use
